As a beginner in scientifical research, we may like a infant toddling in the road and try to find a right direction. Fortunately, some well-experienced people try to share some good methods. Then what we should do is summarizing and finding a method suit for ourselves.

So in this blog, I do a brief summary and introduce a method that fits for me currently for reference.Actually, I will divide into four steps as consecution.

First step, get some preparations and understand what is research?

That is a good problem, because if you want to do great research but you don’t know what’s research that you can not achieve it. Of course, the answer may be different, but some common is sure.Universally thinking, research means studying intensively and searching to find fundamental rules and more reliable basis. So we should realize that will be a rough process which need patience and hard-working. Before start research, some basic skills you need to have like maths, writing and so. If you have good preparations and decide to go on, start by following.

What is research?

Second step, do some accumulation and think simultaneously.

As we all known, a good question is a perfect beginning to do great research. So, think about how to get a good question. Of course, it takes time and energy, but more important is persistence.

That means we need to accumulate continuously, at the first stage, we need to read some papers especially the top-level. While we read papers, we should think simultaneously. To me, I think two points are critical: how the idea occurs and what can improve. The first lets us learn the thinking style and the latter lets us learn to think by ourselves. Costing time to do some knowledge accumulation and thinking is necessary for doing great research.

Third step, do something around question

At the second step, we struggle to find a good question. The next thing is apparent that what we should do around the question. The quantity of actions we should take is three as time order.

First, we should do some background research. The reasons is that know more about the question and don’t do same things others did.

Second, according to the question, give our hypothesis and solution. Only question is not enough, the solution is also important. It is not easy to find a solution, so maybe beginning with some hypothesis is a rational choice.

Third also the last, design experiments to validate our hypothesis and solution. Only the experoments’ data basically conforms to our hypothesis that we can acclaim our solution is effective and conclusions are correct.

Four step, communicate with your research

Although by taking above-mentioned steps, we do some research and get some outcome. But these aren’t great research, we should communicate with other people especially expert in the same shield. We should revise the research by taking appropriate advice, only by this way can we do great research.
